::cough:: Umm... let's try this again. Maybe it would be easier if you told me what you wanted to know...
- Who the heck are you?
- I'm Becky. I'm the computer geek, web addict, net potato who can't seem to find anything better to do than to create silly stuff for the web.
- Yeah, Yeah, but who ARE you?
- Well, I'm a 30+ year old Las Vegas native. I have been on the web for more than four years now and I honestly can't remember what it's like to spend more than a few hours away from my computer. I'm a web designer, pet owner, avid reader, and general whacko.
- Do you really do all of this work alone?
- Yes, I do. Amazing isn't it? See what you can do if you have no life? I have done all of the coding, design and graphics for this site. Although I have "borrowed" certain things where necessary, nothing goes on my site without me. When I use the term "we" or "us" it is in the royal sense. I am all alone in this venture, unless you count Bugsy, my faithful mascot. He's always watching over my shoulder to see which site I'm working on now.
- Surely you don't have time for other websites?
- Of course I do, I'm Becky, Webmistress Extrordinaire! (And don't call me Shirley)
- Sorry, what other sites do you have?
- At the moment I only have two, but I have several more in the works. My first website was my "Tour of Giggles & Grins." It doesn't get the attention it deserves, but it has lots of nifty bits and pieces from my early days as a web designer. The other site I have up is Orlando Travel Now. It's a discount travel site for folks, like me, who want to go to Disneyworld!
- So you spend all of your time working on your websites?
- No, not all of it, though it feels that way sometimes. I also have a daily jokelist, Giggles & Grins. It's easily the best clean jokelist on the web, and I don't just say that cause it's mine.
I also have a weekly inspirational list, Daydreams. I always try to have great, true stories that inspire me or move me, as well as quotes and lessons on life. - Is that all??
- Of course not! Soon I will be teaching a class in HTML at the community college. (If you're one of my students, quit reading this and go do your homework!) Kinda makes you wonder what the college was thinking, doesn't it? I also write, draw, play with my dogs and cats, read (mostly science fiction and fantasy or web design books) and work.
- Work? Do you mean that you have a real job, too?
- You bet I do! As much fun as the online stuff is, none of it pays much right now. So, I work fulltime for
Expedia.com. Ever heard of them? Great place to work, if you have to work at all. I also take on freelance design jobs. Need a designer? I'm not cheap, but I am easy.
- Doesn't this site pay the bills?
- Nah, it doesn't even pay for itself right now. Wanna help? You can drop a buck or two in the tip jar. Every little bit helps. You could always buy a bit of Giggle Gear instead.
